Global Cooling Redux

After this press release was... er... released, there were a few questions about renewable energy credits and what exactly Clif Bar's purchase of them means. We're sorry, we thought the concept was better understood. But it goes something like this - many forms of renewable energy that are much healthier for the environment are more expensive than just burning some fossil fuels to make electricity. So people can buy the 'credits' to offset this cost and ensure that these renewable energy sources are getting used as replacements for fossil fuels. In essence, every credit prevents a certain amount of carbon from being released into the atmosphere and contributing to global warming.

What Clif Bar has done for others, and will do for us, is purchase enough of these credits to see that an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide that our race travel is responsible for producing is saved from being burned into the atmosphere through the use of a renewable source. In the case of Clif Bar, they are purchasing the credits through Native Energy, a wind generator farm. Check out www.clifbar.com or www.nativeenergy.com for more details.

Hope this clears things up a bit. Stay tuned for previews of next weeks episode when Joanie decides to move to Chicago with Chachi.

Rabbits "Ain't Messin' Around With No Suckas", says T

In a move akin to the New York Yankees acquiring Babe Ruth, the vaunted Silly Rabbits further bolstered their incredible line up for the 2006 season by signing the indomitable mohawked one, Mr. T, as an alternate for the 2006 Primal Quest.

"These fools ain't messin around," quipped Mr. T. "And I ain't messin around with no suckas... especially in a race this long!," said T over margaritas and sets of bicep curls at Gold's Gym in Santa Monica, CA.

"I pity the fool who don't like this team!," said Mr. T to a woman who apparently blinked at his new Silly Rabbit muscle t-shirt as she headed to Spin class. The core team members plan to give T plenty of space to train in his own unique style which includes hack squatting Volkswagen Beetles and shadow boxing with 90 pounds of gold jewelry on each wrist.

"T was the Champion of the World! Just ask that fool, Rocky Balboa! Mr. T whopped his a$$. Them fools from Norway, Hungary, China, Alaska, Mr. T don't care where -- they all going down, I'm the champ!"

"I just hope that John gets healthy real, real soon," said team captain Jason Quinn when asked about the possibility of spending 7 days in the wilderness with a man who refers to himself in the third person and is known for building elaborate devices which shoot watermelons at gun-wielding military operatives.
