20km of paddling is complete for the first two teams as they have reached checkpoint 1 ahead of schedule. Team Sole, led by captain Paul Romero, passed through the checkpoint at 9:08am only 3 hours and 8 minutes into the race. Only 2 minutes behind team Sole was team yukonWILD, led by captain Greg McHale, arriving at 9:10am. Both teams deflated the their boats and changed into dry clothes at checkpoint 1 in 9 minutes and are now trekking their way towards checkpoint 2.
