2hrs to Race start!
Saturday, March 27, 2007 6:03PM (Pacific Time)
From the Hotel Santa Isabella. Ensenada, Mexico, the Baja Peninsula. 74 miles south of San Diego California, on the Pacific Ocean.
Quick note: 6:00am and all is still at the Hotel Santa Isabella. Racers are in their last half hour of sleeping before the race start at 8am.
Todayâ??s moment: I took my last shower for a few days. Come on the day is only 20 minutes old. What do you want?
Report: The garage sale of gear made it to the car last night. Only a few pre-race bags and Gregory packs and PFDs lie around the sandy tile floor. It is quite. The sky is overcast with a slight chill. The horizon across the Pacific is dark and a very light sprinkle in the air foretells of what is to come. The air is still. 25mph winds are soon to follow. We are excited for an eventful paddle but hope all of the racers return to land with exciting stories of having, â??made it through.â??
Soon I will report from the race action. Hope for my frequency of reporting to stay steady as I crush band width between crewing duties and blackouts in WiFi service.
While I become spotty in reporting, look to www.SleepMonsters.com
