Be careful what you ask for...you might get it

I love hanging out at manned checkpoints late at night...particularly the ones in the middle of nowhere with a roaring fire. If the weather is bad...even better. Most racers shoot straight for the warmth and light...desperate for a physical and psychological boost in the wee hours.I enjoy watching the other kind. The ones that pull up to the checkpoint and intentionally stay away from the fire. They know that those flames are a proverbial succubus placed in their way...intentionally...by race management just to make them suffer...either by enjoying it, only briefly, before trudging back into the cold dark or by forcing themselves to forgo a moment of comfort for fear that it will sap their will to persevere.
As usual we'll be going out of our way to setup as many manned checkpoints along the coldest and darkest stretches of the course as possible.
You'll have to decide how close you wanna get :-)
