An easy way to Save the World

Come and race at Baker Creek State Park in McCormick, SC on May 6th to help raise money for Save the World, Inc. This year marks the 5th time the race has been held to support the organization's humanitarian aid programs. Unlike many charities, this one converts 100% of all contributions directly into aid without tittering away a cut on "administration" like so many do.

2006 ARWC web site goes live

The official site for the 2006 running of the Adventure Racing World Championship has been opened to the public. So far the site offers what you would expect...background info on the ARWC, details on the actual race, bios, team list, etc.

This year's coverage will include GPS tracking though it is not clear if that will be done in the same way it was last year in New Zealand.

Keep in mind that we'll be providing our own live coverage from the course thanks to badass AR reporter Lisa de Speville.

Save $400 on CARA National Championship

You've got until January 31 to save $400 on the standard registration fee for the 2006 Canadian Adventure Racing Association National Championship. In addition to that...teams that register before the deadline will get an additional $300 credit to help cover hotel, car rental and food expenses, a one year CARA membership, and a one year subscription to Explore magazine.

This year the prize purse is guaranteed to be $25,000 (Canadian) or more depending on how many teams decide to compete in Timmins, Ontario on May 28th.

For more information or to register visit the official race site at www.canadianarchampionship.com.

PS - Yes this race is open to US teams...as is membership in CARA.

Video killed my bank account

I've added video clips from the 2005 Raid World Championship to the Raid page in the all new Features section...to wet your appetite.

I'm thrilled to announce that we'll be getting clips after each leg of the 2006 Raid World Series and the Raid World Cup in September thanks to the good folks at Saga d'Aventures.

The caveat is that we're only going to be able to continue offering these (and other) clips so long as the bandwidth required to meet demand doesn't exceed our ability to pay for it :-)

Adventure Racing Around the World

Team DART will be sharing a multimedia presentation of their experiences while racing in Brazil, Mexico, New Foundland, Canada and the US at the REI in Seattle on February 1st. They'll also be giving away gear from Montrail, Arc'teryx, nuun, Gregory, Teko and their other sponsors.

It's about time...

I had a few minutes to kill last night so I started looking at the hosting service we use (Smugmug) for a way to link to the images stored in our galleries. Piece of cake :-)
