PQ buzz machine

Per the latest post to the official site it seems they're getting ready to announce the 2008 venue:
Where will teams race next summer? Stay tuned to this site as the location of the 5th Edition of Primal Quest is soon to be announced.
So it's time to lay your money down (metaphorically speaking) and state, for the record, where you think it's gonna be.

I'm betting the skies over the 2008 course will be bigger than those shown in the photo from Utah that went along with this most recent post, but that's just a guess based on observation and deduction.

According to a recent Devon O'Neil article in the Summit Daily News, Mr. Mann has "had course designers in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and, in just the past couple of weeks, Arizona, lay out routes in their respective states, in case the Colorado plan falls through."

I'd love to hear what you think and why. I'll send a Checkpoint Zero t-shirt to the first five of you that post a comment to this thread and guess correctly where the race is headed.

I think that Colorado will come through.

By definition, the course will be in hell, hades, Detroit or whatever version of death and toil you come up with. Being a Don Mann course, this answer is guaranteed to be correct. Hence, I win :)

My guess Colorado gets it done. I think this press and talk of alternate locations will get someone moving that knows this is good advertising for the state. I hope that if it does go to an alt location they keep it in a cool/cold location (ie Montana). I am no expert but it seems like the warm/hot locations keep getting picked. I would not mind watching these racers brave the cold!

I'll go with CO for basically same reason John said. They wanted it to be in Colorado from the get go and when push comes to shove, I bet they got it done.

I'm not only laying it on the line with the BIG sky country (Montana), but I am also saying, well...Big Sky, Montana. Everybody does Colorado and it is time for a change.

Yak, I'm going with Montana. I've witnessed the permitting process for big races in Colorado twice (the first PQ and this year's GORE-TEX TransRockies Run), and can testify that it is a nightmare. Why bash your head against the wall in Co. when you are welcomed with open arms in other states? My shirt size is large, and I want that t-shirt IN THE MAIL by end of Sept.

Gordon you get a shirt AND a hat for being a resident blogger (and the Yoda to my Luke Skywalker). It's my bad that I didn't ship you a care package as of your first post.

If you're right about Montana then I'll have to send you one of the few remaining limited edition, CP0 branded hoodies I had made up for my staff at the race this past March :-)

I gotta go with Idaho. I think when it is all said and done Don Mann is going to tap into some epic new territory up north.

I'm going with CO, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico - something in the 4Corners area. Of course I'm only hoping that will be it as I live in Durango and race for 4Corners AR team!

I say Idaho and it's many expanses of remote territory. Course, I am wondering if anyone is thinking of the carbon footprints left behind from dozens of RVs, trucks, SUVs, and assorted cars. I guess if you can't see it, you still meet the Leave No Trace ethos.

Hey Gus, what a clever snarky comment. At least Primal Quest is trying to lessen its impact upon the planet. I don't think every race can claim that. A lot of people seem to like NASCAR... I wonder what their carbon foot print is like?
