This is wrong in so many ways

At a time when adventure racing promoters the world over are working like dogs to produce better and better events that offer more and more compelling media exposure in the hopes of attracting sponsors, comes news that some dude just won $50,000 by winning...get this...a Rock, Paper, Scissors shootout sponsored by Budweiser :-/
Surviving a field of 298 of the finest hand warriors in America, Jamie Langridge defeated David Borne in the final round of the 2007 tournament at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. With a powerful paper, Jamie covered Davidâ??s rock and went home from Las Vegas with the Bud Light Trophy and fifty thousand dollars!Handwarriors, eh?
There are a lot of places I could go with that, but I'll leave it alone.
In light of this disturbing news, Checkpoint Zero, LLC is disgruntled to announce that at all 2008 events we will be introducing the Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge in place of the usual prologue as a means of determining the order in which teams start the race.
Budweiser...call me ;-)

face it. the public is much happier to consume event marketing that involves stuff that their >50% obese butt's could actually do. poker, rock paper scissors, dominoes. if you want cp0 to be a bread winner I'd suggest team jigsaw puzzle building events. but get the kiddie versions with 100 or less pieces.
I just want to know who the viewing market is for this. Its going to be brodcast on ESPN2. How thrilling/on the seat of your pants can this exteme sport be for a few hours. Its like the Scripts spelling be on ESPN. Who is watching that? I know it's not adults, and let's be honest who amongst us loved spelling bee's when we were kids. Its hard to believe the nerd marketing segment is that massive that they were able to get a spelling bee on national sydicated television.
All well maybe these are good sports becuase it doesn't involve running. Pretty soon football will evolve and all players will be on lil' rascals or motor scooters. Or better yet soon I am sure they will pick up thumb wrestling (this isn't that hard to belive as arm wrestling has been on there).
