2008 Primal Quest set for June 21st
Race Management finally released the date of the 2008 edition in a press release earlier today:
I have to point out the asterisk next to the date and the associated footnote that says "Dates subject to change" :-)While the location of next year's Primal Quest Expedition Adventure Race is still a secret, we are happy to announce the 2008 race dates.
Between June 21 and July 2, 2008* seventy-five co-ed teams of racers will take part in the World's Most Challenging Human Endurance Competition.
Primal Quest is an environmentally friendly, ecologically aware wilderness Expedition Adventure RaceĀ®. Teams of experienced back country adventure athletes journey across expansive terrain using only a map, a compass and combined skills. Successfully finishing requires much more than stamina and mental fortitude. It requires selfless teamwork, spirit and absolute determination.
Only co-ed teams of four are permitted to race. Team members are required to travel together at all times and must finish together in order to be officially ranked. Over $100,000 in Cash and Prizes will be awarded to the top finishing teams.

I would bet the whole thing is subject to change.
$12,500 entry fee!!! That's not Grass Roots as they claim. That's robbery. If this race was truly grass roots it would be a fraction of that price. AND teams are required to bring their own crew!
Look at other expedition races that are able to be pulled off for much less. Florida Coast to Coast, Michigan Coast 2 Coats, Checkpoint Zero, Raid the North, ....
Even if we were able to hobble sponsors together to take the $12,000 edge off, I have a hard time swallowing that steep price and justifying it.
Don't drag me into this. My race was 24 hours in Georgia and it cost $500. No point in comparing the Checkpoint Zero Adventure Race to any of the others you mentioned.
Talk amongst yourselves :-)
Sold out in half a day, so I guess the market supports the price! Hopefully they will get some sponsorship money in and put together a great race.
