Then stay away from the Mountain Adventure Race. This new event by veteran racers George Rice and Chris Axelson is not for you.

From the recent press release:

"We've included miles of exposed ridges with fresh air and panoramic views that will have racers in complete awe, and then they'll continue to be blown away as they paddle down rivers first explored by Lewis and Clark over 100 years ago."

This event is shaping up quite nicely. I'm excited about it.

MyTopo.com will be providing all mapping services. I speak from personal experience when I say this fact alone will will go a LONG way towards ensuring a quality experience for the racers as they attempt to not fall off ridges or get swept down river. MyTopo's custom cut, water proof, tear resistant maps are gorgeous, detailed, convenient and tough as nails. That ain't advertising dollars talking...that's truth to power (you guys are the power and I'm telling the truth).

Given the setting this is going to be one of those races where you spend more time staring into the breathtaking distance than you do worrying about what place you're in.
